Built For The Climb

Hi Friend,

They say faith can move mountains. But as the Red Clay Strays put it,

"I'm built for the climb."

That line’s been sitting with me.

There’s an old idea that if you’re doing the right thing, it should feel easy.
That if you’re “in your calling,” the road should be smooth.

That’s never been true.

There’s a famous image of Sisyphus endlessly pushing a boulder uphill. Most people see it as punishment. But there’s another way to look at it - we must imagine Sisyphus happy.

Not because the work is easy, but because the work is his.

Jim Rohn used to say, "We must be happy with what we have while we’re in pursuit of what we want."

The climb matters.

The attitude matters.

When you pursue something you care deeply about, the work isn’t all peaches and cream. In fact, a lot of it is drudgery. Repetition. Problem-solving. Quiet effort no one sees.

For me, when things feel heavy, I go pack orders.

I put my hands on the finished product. I look at what we’re actually shipping out the door. Real food. Thoughtfully made. Meant to help people eat better with ease so they can live stronger, longer, healthier lives.

One of my favorite books, Mind Over Water, describes pursuing long-term goals like climbing a mountain in dense fog. You can’t see the summit. You don’t know how many steps are left. All you can do is keep going - because you never know which step will be the one that places you on the summit.

And here’s the truth every builder eventually learns:

The top of one mountain is just the bottom of another.

We’re always reaching beyond our grasp. Always climbing something.

I don’t know how much farther it is to the summit of Ice Age Meals. But I do know this - I’ll keep pushing this boulder uphill with a smile on my face, grateful for the work, and grateful for you.

Some people are born with a thing they just can’t not do. I’ve found mine.

Thanks for joining the climb.

"Keep It Paleo!"  my friends.

Your pal always,

Paleo Nick

PS: Here's a photo is the coil on our $8,000 induction burner that burned up last Thursday. The climb is real.
