Meet our IAMFAM Athlete of the Month, Warren Brooks!

Tell us about yourself?

I’m married to my beautiful wife, Kristen. We have two kids: Bella (4) & Cooper (1). I love being a husband and a dad. I am a criminal prosecutor in Birmingham where I have been for almost 4 years. I am also a small business owner. I created Elevate Nutrition and Coaching last year where I do nutrition and fitness coaching. I became an attorney and coach because I feel called to serve others and help people in need whether that is victims of crime and their families or clients struggling to reach their health and fitness goals.

How and when did you come to be a member of the CrossFit community?

I started doing CrossFit in early 2014 after I finished my college football career. I played for 4 years at a small school and needed something to scratch that competitive itch I had as an athlete. I always loved being in the weight room preparing for football and I had seen and heard things about CrossFit, so I decided to give it a try. I started with a few main site workouts and after I graduated in May of 2014, I moved back home and started working out at a CrossFit box the next week. I fell in love with the hard work and mental toughness it took to complete the workouts. It reminded me a lot of training for football so I was hooked.

What advice would you give anyone starting CrossFit and/or a healthy lifestyle

You don’t have to workout every day to see results. I used to think that more was always better and I couldn’t take any days off. I eventually learned the power of taking time to let my body recover and that proper recovery would benefit me more in the long run. If you are just starting to workout and live a more active lifestyle, working out 2-3 times per week is a great place to start. This allows your body the time it needs to recover so you avoid overtraining and possibly injuries.

Have you noticed any change in your performance at the gym since using Ice Age Meals?

I have noticed an increase in not only my performance, but also my recovery. I feel more energized for my workouts and like I’m recovering better from my workouts because Ice Age Meals are made with the best quality ingredients.

What is your favorite Ice Age Meal and what do you enjoy most about the products?

My wife and I are always debating about which is our favorite. My favorite is either the Butternut Squash Lasagna with Beef (the sauce is amazing!) or the grass fed barbacoa with rice which I usually add guacamole. Both of these meals are delicious and nutritious.

When you aren’t working out or enjoying Ice Age Meals, how do you like to spend your time?

When I’m not working out, I enjoy spending time with my wife and kids the most. They are my world and it’s so fun watching them grow. I also enjoy hunting. It gives me time to be out in nature and find some peace and quiet away from the fast pace and noise of day to day life. Everything seems to slow down when I’m in the woods.
